Meet our Owner & Chief Wedding Planner, Risa Weaver-Enion

Hi! Thanks for checking out our "About" page! The first thing you should know is that I'm an attorney with an inactive California law license. I graduated from Duke University School of Law in 2010 but quickly realized that a life of drafting licensing agreements and preparing trademark applications was not for me. Instead, I decided to start a business doing what I love—helping people with their weddings!

I've been obsessed with weddings for years. My long-standing subscription to Martha Stewart Weddings was finally put to good use when I got married in 2013 to the love of my life. It was that process that made me realize just how important a wedding planner is. Even though I knew what I wanted my wedding to look like, I still needed help finding the right vendor team and putting together the details that make a once-in-a-lifetime event run smoothly. My wedding planner was a life-saver, and that's what I strive to be for my clients. The most rewarding part of being a wedding planner is when my clients tell me at the end of the night, "We couldn't have done this without you!"

I'm also a wine connoisseur and former professional wine consultant. My personal wine collection focuses on both Old and New World wines, with reds from Burgundy, California, and South America being the most abundant. My husband and I are excited to live in Sacramento because it's the farm-to-fork capital of the world, and it's within an hour's drive of over 600 wineries!

Our Story

Risa James Events is based in Sacramento. We handle events throughout the metropolitan Sacramento area, and in Napa and Sonoma counties. We love working with clients to execute the vision they have for their special event, or help them create a vision from scratch!

It's stressful to host a wedding or other large event. The months leading up to the event are a flurry of details and decision-making. When the big day finally arrives, you really only want to have one job: have fun! That's where we come in. We worry about everything so you don't have to.

In addition to our work in Sacramento, we have planned events in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Please see our Vendors page for recommendations and contact information, and our Testimonials page for client reviews. If you want to be a relaxed bride or groom on your wedding day, give us a call or fill out our contact form today!
